American Brain Tumor Association

The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) is a not-for-profit, independent organization. Not affiliated with any one institution, we serve individuals globally and award funds to researchers throughout the United States and Canada. Founded in 1973 out of a desperate need, the American Brain Tumor Association exists to eliminate brain tumors through research and to meet the needs of brain tumor patients and their families.

Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network

Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network was created in May 2005 as the first national patient-based advocacy organization for bladder cancer. BCAN’s mission is to raise awareness of bladder cancer among the general public and medical community; to advocate for allocation of additional governmental and private funds to research programs directed to the diagnosis, treatment and cure of bladder cancer; and, to work with and provide financial assistance and grants to individuals, corporations and health and medical institutions and associations for bladder cancer research.

CancerCare, Inc.

CancerCare is a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones, and the bereaved. CancerCare programs – including counseling, education, financial assistance and practical help – are provided by trained oncology social workers and are completely free of charge. Founded in 1944, CancerCare now provides individual help to more than 91,000 people each year, in addition to the 1.6 million people who gain information and resources from its website.

Cancer Hope Network

Provides one-on-one support to people undergoing treatment for cancer, and to their families. We provide this support by training individuals who have recovered from cancer, and matching them with cancer patients currently undergoing a similar experience. Through this matching process we strive to instill hope, and to make a difference in their fight against cancer.

The Cancer Project

The Cancer Project is a collaborative effort of physicians, researchers, and nutritionists who have joined together to educate individuals, families, and the public on the benefits of a healthy diet for cancer prevention and survival. Cycle For Life

The Cycle for Life Ride is my effort to make a difference. This bicycle journey from Victoria, BC to St. John’s, NL will hopefully raise money to help these organizations. International Association of Laryngectomees

The IAL assists people who have lost their voice as a result of cancer. It provides information on the skills needed by laryngectomees and works toward total rehabilitation of patients.

International Myeloma Foundation

The IMF supports education, treatment, and research for multiple myeloma. They provide a toll-free hotline, seminars, and educational materials for patients and their families. Although the IMF does not sponsor support groups, they do keep a list of other organizations’ support groups and provide information on how to start a support group.

Kidney Cancer Association

The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) is a charitable organization made up of patients, family members, physicians, researchers, and other health professionals. We fund, promote, and collaborate with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Urologic Association (AUA), and other institutions on research projects. We educate families and physicians, and serve as an advocate on behalf of patients at the state and federal levels.

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization

The NHPCO is an association of programs that provide hospice and palliative care.
